FlashPoint Live after FlashPoint

On a recent evening in Fort Worth, I found myself walking into the same convention center where it all began…FlashPoint Live, four years after we launched the very first one in that exact spot back in 2021. But this time, everything felt different. This time, I wasn’t behind the scenes calling shots. I wasn’t finalizing details or making last-minute edits. I wasn’t the producer. I was a guest.

Just a few months earlier, in May, I had stepped down from my role as Senior Producer of FlashPoint…a decision that, to be honest, I never saw coming. Most people in the TV world work their entire lives hoping to be part of a show that actually means something. FlashPoint wasn’t just a show with reach and influence, it was a mission. A movement. And I got to be part of it from the ground floor.

So why walk away? Simple. Because I felt God told me it was time.

Not in a booming voice from the heavens…but in a quiet, unmistakable way that left no room for doubt. It wasn’t easy. But I’ve learned over the years that when God speaks, the best thing you can do is pay attention.

That night in Fort Worth, Gene Bailey invited me on stage during the pre-show. We laughed and looked back on nearly five years of working side-by-side, navigating everything from technical meltdowns to historic live moments. It was fun to reminisce, to feel the crowd’s energy, and to honor the journey we’d taken together.

As we were wrapping up, something unexpected happened. My friend and longtime producing partner Mika Simpson stepped out from backstage holding a beautiful eagle award…and Gene presented it to me in front of the entire audience. It was surreal. In a world that often moves too fast to say thank you, I was humbled beyond words that he took the time to honor my contribution to the show in such a meaningful way.

I held back tears, smiled for the cameras, and took a deep breath.

Later, as I sat down with my family in the crowd…the audience, for the first time since FlashPoint began…I felt this strange but peaceful mix of nostalgia, closure, and anticipation. The show went on, as it should, and it was a powerful night. But what stuck with me most wasn’t just the program. It was that quiet sense of being exactly where I was supposed to be. No regrets. No second-guessing.

Just gratitude.

I’ll never forget that evening. And while it marked the end of a significant chapter, I don’t believe for a second that the story’s over. I’m looking forward to whatever it is that God has lined up next.
